Responsible gaming
Betting should be entertainment you can afford, not a way to make money you need. Here's how to stay in control.
Need help now?
- Call or text 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537), free and confidential, any time.
- National Council on Problem Gambling: help, treatment and self-exclusion.
- Gamblers Anonymous: find a meeting.
Signs it's becoming a problem
- Betting more than you planned, or more to feel the same excitement.
- Chasing losses: betting bigger right after a loss to win it back.
- Betting money meant for bills, rent or savings, or borrowing to bet.
- Hiding betting from people close to you, or feeling anxious when you can't bet.
Tools on this site
- Daily, weekly and monthly limits: every suggested stake stays inside them.
- Stop me at my limits: turns off suggestions once you hit a limit, instead of only warning you.
- Chase warning: flags a stake that's well above your usual right after a loss.
- Take a break: hides picks for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, and can't be undone early.
Set them in Settings. The betting apps you use have their own limits and self-exclusion too; check each app's responsible gaming settings.
Good habits
- Decide your budget before you start, and treat it as spent.
- Expect to lose most entries. Losing streaks are normal even with good picks.
- Never bet to fix money problems, or when upset or after drinking.
